Turquoise is one of the first gemstones mined in both Egypt and the Americas. Prized for the hues of blue, it was believed to show the wearer the true path or “path of truth”. American Indians place a piece of the stone onto the bow and when the arrow was aligned and released, it was believed the stone would direct the arrow, without error, to the intended target. Turquoise is believed by some to be a spiritual stone, activating within the wearer the ability to choose the right path to take, spiritually, physically and in business ventures.

When looking to purchase or pick out a piece for yourself or as a gift it is good to pick up or touch the stones. Feel the weight, warmth or coolness of the stone. This is as important as the color that appeals to you.
When mixed with other stones, it is good to pick out pieces with red coral. Red coral is a balancing piece. One might imagine it as the “yin and yang” with turquoise representing day and coral representing night.
I would like to end with this thought for you. When choosing your stone, be it for a gift or for yourself, the right stone will find you. Take your time and enjoy the benefits of this delightful gem.

**Georgian Birthstone Poem**
If cold December gave you birth

Success will bless whate’er you do.
