 May Birthstone is Emerald
Who first beholds the light of day
In spring's sweet, flower month of May
And wears an emerald all her life
Shall be a loved and loving wife.
~Gregorian Birthstone Poems~

Ah, the month of May. Spring. Emeralds!

The stone of Faith, Honesty and Healing. It is also thought to sharpen one's wits and intensify or increase mental development.
It is a brittle stone, born of the earth, developing into Beryls. Natural Emeralds have "inclusions" which can be referred to as "gardens". It helps to create the individual beauty and spirit of your stone. Man made or lab created emeralds have no inclusions however they are certainly beautiful if that is all you want.

If you would like to have the same spiritual infusions created by the Emerald you can find it by wearing Aventurine. Green in color also, it can range from a solid color to slightly striated. I prefer the solid, jade-like stones. The Aventurine can bring out your ability to focus on studies, artist endevers or when trying to figure out a personal relationship. Places to find good stones would be Gem Faires, Gem shops or Bead and Stone shows. Be aware that some dealers use dyed stones and pass them off as a different, more expensive stone. You might do well to ask if any stone you are interested in its natural state or dyed.

(Just a note: I always ask about Coral and turquoise as these two, when dyed, will stain the skin after a few hours of wearing against the skin. Not too cute.)

I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about stones or make you your own personal jewelry piece. Please feel free to contact me at mannynlinda@comc
